} Side by Side™ — A Partner’s Guide to Bariatric & GLP-1 Transformation
Side by Side™ · Partner Program · 8 Weeks

Nobody built
a program
for you.

“Every resource about this journey is written for the patient. You’ve been navigating yours alone — without a framework, without a room, and without anyone asking how you’re doing. Until now.”

If any of this sounds familiar

You’ve been showing up
without a roadmap.

These are the things partners carry that nobody built anything to address.

🍽
You reorganised the whole kitchen and nobody asked how you felt about it.
Your household food culture changed completely. You adapted. It was a lot. It was yours to carry.
🔍
You wanted to help — so you started checking in. Daily. About everything.
The protein questions. The vitamin reminders. The scale watching. It came from care. It became something else.
🔄
The relationship feels different and you can’t explain why.
Your partner is changing. The dynamic is shifting. You’re adjusting in real time without a map for what you’re navigating.
🤞
You’ve felt jealous. And then felt guilty about the jealousy.
The attention. The confidence. The transformation. Real feelings that had nowhere to go — and no permission to exist.
💕
Intimacy is complicated now and nobody has given you the conversation.
A changing body. A partner still getting to know it. And no framework for how to navigate the space between you.
🌟
You’ve been doing a lot. Nobody has asked how you are.
Your own health, goals, and wellbeing have taken a back seat. The support has all been outbound. Your turn hasn’t come yet.
There’s a program for you now

Side by Side™ is the eight-week program
built entirely for the partner.

Not a pamphlet. Not a chapter at the back of a book. A full program — with curriculum, live coaching, and a community of people navigating exactly what you’re navigating — designed from the ground up for the person standing next to the transformation.

How it works

Eight weeks.
One live call a week.
Everything changes.

01
Read the weekly module
Each week’s content is available in your private member portal the moment it unlocks. 30–35 minutes of reading, tools, and reflection prompts designed specifically for the partner experience.
02
Do the work
Every module includes a practical inventory, a worksheet, and a specific action to take before the live call. This program produces real change because it asks for real action each week.
03
Show up Thursday night
Every Thursday at 7:30 PM CT, a live 60–75 minute Zoom call with Melissa and your cohort. Small group, real conversation, no performance required. The call is where the transformation happens.

The 8-week curriculum

Every week is built for
where you actually are.

No filler. Every module covers something real that partners navigate and nobody else addresses directly.

1
What Actually Happened
The physiology, the mechanics, what your partner’s body is actually doing — explained clearly for the person who’s been living alongside it without the briefing they needed.
The foundation
2
The New Kitchen
Food, shared meals, eating out, the household food culture that changed overnight. Practical tools for navigating it without making every meal a negotiation.
Practical reset
3
How to Help Without Hovering
The support–surveillance line. Why the daily check-ins aren’t support. The Three Questions framework for every situation where you want to help but aren’t sure how.
The core skill
4
When the Dynamic Shifts
Confidence, social life, the relationship’s unspoken assumptions — all updating at once. The relationship inventory and the conversation most couples need and almost nobody has.
Relationship tools
5
Your Feelings Are Valid
Jealousy. Fear. Grief. Pride mixed with anxiety. This week they get named, without judgment, in a room where everyone understands exactly what you’re carrying.
The most important week
6
Intimacy and the Changing Body
Physical intimacy through a significant body transformation. What’s actually happening, what to say, what not to say, and how to stay connected through the change. The conversation most programs skip entirely.
The one nobody covers
7
You’re Allowed to Take Care of Yourself
Your health has taken a back seat. This week is yours — not as a support person, as a person. The support toll, the inspired-not-threatened reframe, and one concrete action before graduation.
Your turn
8
The Long Game
This is permanent. The graduation week. The long-game framework for sustainable partnership, the Partnership Pledge, and the naming ceremony that closes the program.

Live Zoom call every week
Wednesdays · 7:00 PM CT · 60–75 min
Small group · Real conversation

What’s included

Everything you need.
Nothing you don’t.

📚
8 weekly lesson modules
Private member portal access. Each module unlocks weekly with content, interactive tools, worksheets, and reflection prompts — all built for the partner, not the patient.
💻
8 live Zoom calls with Melissa
Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM CT. Small group. Real coaching. The calls are where the program does its deepest work — and where you find out you’re not the only one carrying this.
⚒️
Bariatric & GLP-1 track content
Both tracks are covered throughout. Week 1 includes a full track-specific briefing. Track-relevant content runs through all 8 weeks so your specific situation is addressed directly.
💬
Private partner community
A small, private cohort of people navigating exactly what you’re navigating. The community is the program’s most valuable component for many members — you’ll understand why by Week 3.
🏆
Graduation naming ceremony
Week 8 closes with a ceremony. Melissa names every member individually — something true and specific she observed across eight weeks. This is the close the program was built toward.
💕
Lifetime access to all materials
Your member portal access doesn’t expire. The modules, tools, and worksheets are yours to return to whenever the long game brings up something new.

Built by someone
who lived both sides.

Melissa had VSG surgery in 2020 and lost 110 lbs — which she has maintained for five years. She is a Certified Master Life Coach and Certified Holistic Nutritionist. She is also the author of two Amazon-published books on the bariatric and partner experience.

Side by Side was built because she watched her partner navigate her transformation without a single resource that was built for him. He figured it out — with her help, and with a lot of trial and error that a program like this would have made unnecessary. She built it so the next partner doesn’t have to figure it out alone.

The book behind the program

Side-by-Side: A Guide for the Partners of Bariatric Patients

The program was built from this book — Melissa’s Amazon-published guide to the partner experience of bariatric transformation. It covers the emotional, relational, and practical dimensions of standing beside someone going through significant change. If you want to go deeper after the program, the book is there. Members who’ve read it say it made the program land harder. Available on Amazon.

From the people who went
through it first.

Frequently asked questions

The questions worth
answering directly.

Do I need to be a partner of a bariatric patient, or does this work for GLP-1 too?
Both tracks are fully supported throughout the program. Week 1 includes separate briefings for bariatric and GLP-1 partners, and track-specific content runs through all 8 weeks. If your partner is on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound — this program was built for you too.
What if I can’t make every live Zoom call?
Life happens. Calls are recorded and available in your portal within 24 hours. The live calls are the most valuable part of the program and we encourage attendance, but missing one won’t leave you behind. The module content is fully self-contained.
Does my partner enroll too, or is this just for me?
Side by Side is specifically for the partner — not a couples program. Your partner has Whole Again (or their own medical team and support). This program gives you your own space to process, learn, and grow — which ultimately benefits the relationship. Some couples run both programs simultaneously. If your partner isn’t in Whole Again yet, see the Whole Again program at imwholeagain.com.
Is the program gender-specific?
No. Side by Side uses gender-neutral language throughout and is open to all partners regardless of gender or relationship structure. The program content is designed to be relevant to any person navigating this journey as a partner or spouse.
When does the program start?
The next cohort starts soon. When you enroll, you’ll receive a welcome email with the exact start date, Zoom link, and access to your member portal. Enrollment closes once the cohort is full — founding member cohorts are kept intentionally small.
My partner had their surgery over a year ago. Is it too late for this program?
No. The relationship dynamics, intimacy questions, and partner feelings this program addresses don’t resolve on a timeline. Partners one, two, or three years out often find the program more relevant than ever — because by then the adjustment has had time to either settle constructively or harden into patterns that need addressing. You’re not late. You’re ready.
